School shooting aftermath

A second victim has died from wounds suffered in the school shooting in Chardon, Ohio.
Russell King Jr., 17, was declared brain dead early Tuesday, according to the medical examiner's office. He was shot at Chardon High School on Monday. Student Daniel Parmertor died on Monday. Three other students were wounded in the shooting.

School shooting

At least three students were wounded when two people entered the cafeteria of a high school near Cleveland, Ohio, and opened fire just as the school day was beginning. The shooting happened at Chardon High School in Chardon, Ohio this morning. Two shooters entered Chardon High School and shot three or four students in the cafeteria. The victims conditions are unknown but  helicopters had been called to take the injured to a hospital.

Syrian News

Fear and horror paralyzed residents in the Syrian city of Homs Tuesday, with snipers stopping anyone from moving and heavy shelling blasting through the air, opposition activists said.
At least six civilians were killed by shelling in the Baba Amr neighborhood of Homs, according to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, an opposition activist group.Another two people were killed in Daraa and one in Damascus, bringing Tuesday's death toll to nine, according to the opposition Local Coordination Committees of Syria.

Whitney Houston, 48, was found dead Saturday by her bodyguard at a Beverly Hills, California, hotel. This is very tragic and unexpected.

Lake Vostok

Russian drillers where recently able to pierce a body of water that was underneath two miles of ice in Antarctica. Scientists hope samples of Lake Vostok, a body the size of Lake Ontario, will yield signs of previously undiscovered life and new clues about the history of the planet. The lake is believed to have been covered by ice for up to 30 million years.

Earthquake

A earthquake struck the Philippines Monday at about 11:49 a.m. (10:49 p.m. Sunday ET) with a magnitude of 6.8 killing a total of 12 people. The dead included two elementary school children, authorities said, according to the Philippines News Agency. The girls died when the walls at their schools collapsed on them said National Police spokesman Chief Supt. Agrimero Cruz Jr.

Economy

The Labor Department announced that 367,000 people filed for unemployment in the week of Januray 28th and is down 12,000 from a revised reading 379,000 the week earlier.
